Heart of the Party
The Kingslayer is a tanky wall that can control and buff the party in a multitude of defensive ways.
Since they can take a lot of damage before going down, Kingslayers are a very strong choice for people looking for more survival or to take extra risks against enemies.
Best: Highest HP, very defensive, great control with offensive skills.
Worst: Underwhelming DPS, very reaction-based, skill point starved.
Weapons: Dagger, Sword, Bows
Gameplay Identity
The Kingslayer doesn't have rotations, instead favoring the use of conditional skills, offensively and defensively to adapt to circumstances, so they are:
The core pillar of parties, who can change the flow of the gameplay directly, either by saving them from difficult moments or by increasing the margin for risks.
They are a unique class in regards to the skills distribution, since they are themed around Chess. This can be an issue due to the huge amount of skills they have at their disposal, making them unreliable in the hands of a player that doesn't know what to focus on. Regardless of skill levels, even a lower level skill can be very well used by a skilled player.
A Kingslayer, even if undergeared, can tank many hits due to its multiple mitigation tools, and if built around using a bow, they can use the rogue skill Cover in a much more similar way to the vanilla RO Paladin's Devotion by standing in the backline. (Devotion being a long term buff you can apply to many members, while cover lasts a few seconds but has a shorter range and no cast time, making it very good for quick saves and bursts of risky plays).
The Kingslayer can also attempt to quickly finish-off an enemy by casting Check Mate, dealing potential high damage if the resources are being well managed.
Core Gameplay Loop
The Kingslayer has the tree divided in 2 clear major branches, they mimic the positions of the chess pieces overall on the skill tree:
- White Skills are focused on protection, defense, regeneration and mitigation.
- Black Skills are focused on damage, control, knockback and monster interactions.
- The 2 Gambit Skills (Queen and King) provide strong opportunities to handle a difficult situation, either by dealing high damage or quickly blocking a strong spell.
- Final Skill: Check Mate. Converts the current SP amount into ATK% to deal damage to an enemy. The higher the SP, the higher total damage.
By Making use of the shield skills from Rogue, The damage reflection and parrying from Duelist and the Variety of the the Kingslayer, they can cover any possible gaps in the defense of the party.
