Note: The Illusionist is an Expert Job. It's not recommended for beginners. The core feature of the Illusionist is Playing two characters at once.
Illusionist Requires Base Level 15 and Job Level 10 to start the quest.
The Illusionist is a unique combat where it has control of the Puppet, Kimi. The puppet can fight directly against enemies while the Illusionist stays on the sidelines providing support.
It's skills are focused in management of the Puppet, support damage, control and misdirection.
Best: High potential, low gear requirements, unique gameplay.
Worst: Lowest base HP by far, very vulnerable when alone, few weapon choices.
Weapons: Illusion Gloves
Gameplay Identity
The Illusionist is played mostly as a support for the puppet, both with healing and control, along with direct damage, when playing:
Feels like controlling 2 characters at once, one with the focus on direct combat and another being supportive on the sides, require excelent micro-management.
The Illusionist can acquire a secondary weapon for free in Lutie. This weapon allows improved potential of support for Kimi and other players by improving healing power and pitching of items.
The Illusionist however will need to also fight and sometimes, deal most damage to generate Condensed Souls, essential for the growth of the Puppet and further on, for Grand Summoning.
Most of the Illusionist's offensive capabilities revolve around its core offensive skill, Real Magic Attack, a Good illusionist will mix both hardcasting the skill from a safe distance, or using the powers from the illusion glove along with a very high autospell chance to ensure it's applied constantly to enemies when safe.
A good Illusionist will know when to use its support skills, either by changing places with the Puppet or enemies using Master Swap and Illusion of Exchange, applying debuffs or covering an area with minor AoE skills to control any mobs that may show up.
The first priority should be to always keep the Kimi, the Puppet safe, as not having a Puppet in most cases and builds, may mean instant death. It's important to keep an eye on while reviving the puppet as even with no intimacy penalties, the SP cost can be a problem.
Kimi: The Puppet
The Puppet behaves mostly the same as the Homunculus, but with its own, hassle-free way.
There are 4 types of Puppets, each with their own balance. A player can reroll their kimi by deleting the previous one(on the stats window) and summoning it again, keep in mind this will reset the level of the Puppet back to 1:
Agile Kimi Aggressive by default, has low defenses and sp growth, but high flee and attack speed. Excelent for low-management builds and focus.
Raging Kimi Aggressive by default, has balanced status overall with a focus on offenses. Very good for physical skill use and barrage of offensive skills.
Occult Kimi Passive by default, has high SP and magic growth, being very good for healing and magic casting. Better choice for players confortable with it.
Ward Kimi Passive by default, has high defenses and HP, an ideal choice for beginners or Illusionists who focus on support a pure damage while kimi tanks hits.
Core Differences between the Puppet and the Homunculus
- Extremely reduced needs to be fed, won't abandon the player unless it's blatantly ignored.
- Intimacy loss is extremely reduced and slower.
- Does not have randomized status growth, the values are fixed according to the Puppet type.
- Doesn't require anything to be created.
- Is the main source of combat and power of the Illusionist.
Condensed Soul
Condensed Souls are the unique item drop of the Illusionist class. The drop rate of this consumable increases according to Illusion Glove refine level.
Uses for Condensed Souls
- Can be fed to Kimi to increase her intimacy.
- Required to use the skill Grand Summoning.
- Can be consumed to generate illusions that will auto attack enemies for a few seconds and can activate autospells from the Illusionist. Amount increases per job level.
Condensed Souls can be stored, sold and dropped, but harms any other job who attempts to use it.
Skills
The Illusionist has a complete skill tree, where all skills require 49 skill points total. So it'll eventually learn the whole kit.
Grand Summoning
The Summoned monsters cannot be attacked by enemies, which makes them pure offensive or supportive powers. Their attacks also activate Real Magic Attack and other autospells.
Grand Summoning is always the last skill learned and requires a high amount of job experience to learn each level, being a key skill for later stages.
